Decription:
FairWind installed 71 Vestas turbines on fjords on an island in Roan, Norway, creating additional complexities in terms of terrain and logistical planning.
Challenges:
- The project site was in a remote area only 400km from the arctic circle.
- The island were the site was located had only one access road, meaning transportation could only be completed one component at a time.
- Project had to be completed relatively quickly and efficiently during the summer weather window.
FairWind successfully completed the project through highly organized planning of operations and manpower. For example, four teams worked in two shifts to ensure the turbines were installed on time before weather conditions deteriorated.
