FairWind Expands Offshore Presence in UK
FairWind’s Global Experience Brings Local Presence to Hull
Not only has FairWind ensured that 60% of technicians at the massive offshore pre-installation project at Green Port Hull, U.K. are local, but has also pre-trained them by leveraging another project in Esbjerg, Denmark.
Part of the reason FairWind was chosen by Siemens for the project was because we are the only company with the global capability to pre-train local workers in such a way.
The impact of global scope on a local level
FairWind sent the workers to Esbjerg, where we are executing a contract for Siemens on the pre-assembly of 100 towers for the Sandbank and Veja Mate offshore projects.
By having the technicians pre-train at another offshore project, FairWind ensured they have the experience and skills necessary to competently take on the massive Hull project, reducing financial and safety risks for the client.
This solution was the only way to fulfill the 60% local worker requirement while guaranteeing the highest international standards for the project.
FairWind strengthens its U.K. position
The new facility will provide turbines for at least three offshore wind farms. First will be Dudgeon off the Norfolk coast, with a planned installation of 67 Siemens 6MW offshore wind turbines. Dudgeon will be followed by Galloper.
The project represents a major boon for Hull, a fishing port that had been in decline for decades.
