Description:

This breakthrough project for FairWind was our first offshore project in Asia and Taiwan in particular.

We collaborated with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy on pre-assembly and HV work for 20 units, later installed at a site six kilometers off the west coast of the Miaoli district in the Taiwan Strait.

As part of this project, FairWind established a local branch out of Taipei – our first legal entity in Asia.

Local Taiwanese technicians were recruited and traveled to our training center at European Wind Academy in Szczecin, Poland to receive their GWO and other necessary training. Before the project started, these technicians participated in other projects in Europe, such as Hohe See, in order to ensure proper preparation and quality before beginning work at Formosa.

Weather conditions were extreme, including not only wind, but typhoons, earthquakes, heavy rains, lightning, heat, and of course the time difference between Taiwan and our headquarters in Europe.

In spite of these challenges, FairWind delivered to the satisfaction of the customer, with the last four wind turbines delivered with zero snags.
