Job summary:

As the Country Manager for Taiwan, you will be responsible for overseeing and driving the strategic development, operations, and market presence of FairWind in the region as well as supporting sales and tender activities. This position requires a proven track record in the renewable energy sector, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the Taiwanese renewable wind business landscape.

The Country manager shall as well in periods support with other duties like recruitment, e.g., interviewing and hiring new staff. This role also requires local support in creating and implementing new operational standards to optimize execution.

You will oversee some level of the daily operations as well as having client contact.

You will work in a proactive and motivating atmosphere, where we promote growth, learning and collaboration, whilst having time for networking and fun.

You will be given a flexible working schedule, allowing you to perform work from remote locations, project locations, FairWind offices as well as home office. You will be able to plan your workday around your normal life, to support a healthy work-life balance.

You will be employed on a full-time basis and travel, both domestic and international must be expected

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership:

Support in development and execution of the overall business strategy for Fairwinds APAC region, aligned with the company’s global objectives.

Provide strong leadership to the local team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across functions.

  1. Market Expansion:

Identify and evaluate business opportunities in the renewable wind industry and create business cases to be presented and discussed with the global sales manager.

Build and maintain relationships with local key industry organizations, government agencies, and regulatory bodies.

Monitor and develop offices and infrastructure in line with business growth.

Ensure local employer branding, including hire, train, coach and develop local staff.

Local facility management for offices and warehouse buildings, including overseeing all aspects of the business such as HR, sales, operations, HSE, QA, finance, and Payroll.

  1. Regulatory Compliance:

In alignment with the legal department, ensure organizational standards and guidelines are managed as well as assist in obtaining necessary licenses and working hour exemption, and ensure compliance to relevant regulation.

Stay compliant with local laws and regulations related to the renewable energy sector in Taiwan.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and work proactively with authorities to address any challenges.

  1. Project Management:

Oversee the successful execution of wind energy projects, from tender to completion.

Collaborate with project teams to ensure HSE, timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.

In alignment with the Offshore Installation and Project Management, coordinate necessary tools and equipment, source local suppliers, and ensure overall coordination locally for timely project execution.

  1. Financial Management:

In alignment with the finance department, manage local finances, banking, payroll, procurement, etc.

Develop and manage the budget for the Taiwan operations, ensuring financial targets are achieved, in particular revenue and department cost.

Implement cost-effective strategies and monitor financial performance regularly.

  1. Stakeholder Engagement:

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and suppliers.

Represent FairWind at industry events, conferences, and forums to enhance the company’s visibility in the region.

  1. Sales:

Support the Global Sales Manager develop local and regional sales strategy, which supports and compliments the overall global sales strategy as well as implementation of the regional and local sales strategy.

Act as FairWind local sales representative, this includes:

  • participation at local and regional exhibits and conferences, as aligned with the global sales manager.
  • Participate in client meetings.
  • Support the tender manager(-s) with cost estimates for various cost items (from technician cost per hour to plant machinery and minor civil works on site).
  • Support nurturing local client relationship with existing clients, and ensure we always get asked for any new opportunities arising in the country and region.
  • Support building relationship with new clients.
  • Be main focal point for sales of time and material to existing clients (in close collaboration with global sales and tender management).

Regularly Reporting to global sales manager on all market updates as well as supporting the tender manager´s upon request.

Be an active participant in the tender team and support the tender in the best possible way during the tender and in peak periods, take lead on ongoing tenders and act as the tender manager.

It is expected that the Country Manager supports the sales organization grow locally and regionally as well as reach a maturity that supports hiring a regional sales manager.

The sales focus for the Country Manager is therefore on an operational and tactical level and is to be in close alignment with the global sales manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree within a relevant field of engineering with min. 5 years of commercial experience, or bachelor degree in business administration with a min. of 7 years’ experience within construction.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role within the renewable energy sector or equivalent industries.
  • Proven success in driving business growth, managing complex projects, and achieving sales targets.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Taiwanese business environment, regulations, and culture.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin is essential.
  • Ability to travel min. 15-25 days a year.
  • Driving license – B category.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit.
