Replacing main bearings in storm season

FairWind’s Main Component Exchange (MCE) team successfully completed a main bearing replacement on a wind turbine in the United States.

This comprehensive project involved the full disassembly of the existing drivetrain, including the removal of the hub and blades.

Results

• Despite weather challenges, the project was delivered on schedule.

• The turbine was reassembled and tested within the allotted time frame.

• The main bearing replacement extended the turbine’s life, reducing the need for new equipment production and transportation, and minimising environmental impact.
