Replacing main bearings in storm season
Main bearing replacement for FairWind’s MCE team
Description
FairWind’s Main Component Exchange (MCE) team successfully completed a main bearing replacement on a wind turbine in the United States.
This comprehensive project involved the full disassembly of the existing drivetrain, including the removal of the hub and blades.
Results
Despite weather challenges, the project was delivered on schedule.
The turbine was reassembled and tested within the allotted time frame.
The main bearing replacement extended the turbine’s life, reducing the need for new equipment production and transportation, and minimising environmental impact.
Coordinated efforts between crane operators, rigging crews, and FairWind technicians ensured the safe and efficient completion of the job.
